The city of Olaine, located 20 kilometres from Riga, is considered the centre of the Latvian chemical industry, and the BIOLAR chemical plant is one of the largest enterprises in Olaine. Today, BIOLAR is the only specialised chemical company in the Baltic States, and the leading manufacturer of Azo initiators in Europe.
The factory area is almost 200 thousand square metres, and the total building area is more than 70 thousand square metres.
The plant was created on the basis of the State Research and Production Association “Biolar”, which has been carrying out fundamental scientific research for more than 30 years and has been engaged in the production of thousands of different chemical reagents and highly pure substances.
For this, three main productions are organised:

The research laboratory is engaged in the development of new types of chemical materials.
A separate specialised laboratory conducts research in the field of organic synthesis of paints and varnishes.
Analytical laboratory carries out constant control of raw materials and finished products.
The company has implemented and successfully operates systems of international management standards ISO in the field of quality (ISO 9001), environmental protection (ISO 14001) and energy efficiency (ISO 50001).
